Position Overview
Based in Bronkhortspruit at MowCop Silica Quarry, I was the responsible Site Manager for the quarry and all the employees health and safety. Crushing and screening of silica sand, concrete stone and trans alloys for the energy plants. Ensure the drill and blasting of ROM material are carried out in a safe manor, as per MHSA act. I carried legal appointment 3.1a in this position.
Summary of Duties:
- Manage and take charge of 45 employees, drive and motivate them to reach or exceed daily, weekly and monthly production targets
- Coordinate mining equipment and personnel activities (Take general charge of the overall mining operation). Ensure equipment are available and report any deficiencies to relevant sections to rectify
- Monitor tempos, tonnage, fill factor and coordinate and control cycle times to ensure conformance to planned production schedule and give solutions where needed to improve
- Manage and control site budget of R1.2million monthly
- Manage operators and equipment to enable effective deployment in the active mining areas as required to conform to production schedule plan (e.g. match trucks versus excavators e.g. number of trucks per excavator)
- Implement and enforce MHSA standards and procedures are followed and complied to.
- Quality control and ensuring product are to set standards
- Liaise with customers and senior management, compiling detailed site reports
